KLIA Surpasses Changi Airport, Secures 4th Spot on World's Most Instagrammable Airports List
Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) has reached a significant milestone, securing the fourth spot in a global ranking of the world’s most Instagrammable airports, surpassing Singapore’s famed Changi Airport. The ranking, conducted by aviation website Simple Flying, analyzed Instagram hashtags related to the 50 busiest airports worldwide.
KLIA earned fourth place with over 600,000 hashtags, while Changi, often recognized as one of the world’s top airports, ranked fifth.
KLIA’s Unique Appeal
KLIA’s distinctive blend of modern architecture and natural elements has contributed to its popularity among travelers and Instagram users. Its lush indoor greenery, particularly the Jungle Boardwalk, creates a unique visual experience that sets it apart from other airports.
“KLIA features a stunning combination of contemporary design and nature, with its Jungle Boardwalk being a highlight for many visitors,” the study noted.
With 600,336 Instagram posts and 47 million passengers in 2023, KLIA is Malaysia’s largest and busiest airport, located 45 kilometers south of Kuala Lumpur.
In recent years, KLIA has seen significant development, including the launch of Terminal 2 in 2014 and ongoing expansion with a new satellite terminal, increasing its capacity to 97.5 million passengers annually. Managed by Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad, KLIA serves as a key hub for airlines like Malaysia Airlines and AirAsia.
KLIA’s strong performance in the rankings highlights Malaysia’s rising prominence as a travel destination and the increasing appeal of its main airport as a visual attraction for social media users.
