Highway Concessionaire CEO Arrested on Alleged Bribery Charges Involving RM1.6 Billion Projects
The CEO of a prominent highway concessionaire in Klang Valley has been arrested for alleged bribery related to two highway projects.
According to the New Straits Times, a source revealed that the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) arrested the CEO, along with two senior officials from the same company, on Monday night, June 24.
The trio are suspected of soliciting bribes from construction company owners and awarding contracts for two highways in Klang Valley, one valued at RM1 billion and the other at over RM650 million.
The anti-graft agency also arrested five individuals from a construction company for allegedly offering bribes for these contracts.
"All suspects were brought to the Putrajaya Magistrates' court on Monday. The highway concessionaire's executives will be remanded until Friday, June 28.
"The five individuals from the construction company were remanded for three days," said the source.
The case is being investigated under Section 16(a)(A) of the MACC Act for soliciting or receiving gratification.
