Famous 'Abang Bas' of TikTok is Arrested for Making Inappropriate Videos With Schoolgirls

A 24-year-old TikTok-famous school bus driver has been arrested in Johor following public outrage over his interactions with young schoolgirls.

The driver, who goes by 'Abang Bas' on TikTok, posted videos showing him playing with the girls, including one in which he touched a sleeping girl's lips and another where he referred to a student as his "crush."

Johor police chief CP M Kumar reported that the suspect was arrested at 2:57 am on September 6 at a location in Simpang Renggam, near Kluang. The arrest was made by Kluang police's Criminal Investigation Division (CID) after Women, Family, and Community Development Minister Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri flagged the incident.

The minister responded to an online post on X (formerly Twitter) that accused the bus driver of inappropriate behavior, including filming and uploading videos of young schoolgirls, which could be considered child sexual harassment.

"This behavior is unacceptable and should not be normalized," Nancy said, instructing the Child Development Department to take action against the offender. She also emphasized that sharing images or videos of children without parental consent violates the child’s rights and privacy under the Child Act 2001.

The TikTok account, now deleted, had over 600,000 followers and frequently featured schoolgirls. The driver also ran a subscription-based service on his TikTok account.

The bus driver is under investigation for persistent following or surveillance of a child under various Malaysian laws. Investigations are being conducted under Section 15(a)(iii) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017 and Section 15(2) of the Child Act 2001, which address child pornography and the unlawful publication of images of protected children, as reported by the Malay Mail.

If convicted, he faces up to 15 years in prison and a fine of RM30,000.

Meanwhile, Kumar has urged parents of the affected children to come forward and assist with the investigation. He also advised parents to watch for signs of emotional distress or physical abuse in their children.
