DBKL Fines F&B Outlets for Lacking Bahasa Malaysia on Their Signboards
In a Facebook post, DBKL stated that the premises had violated the Advertisement Bylaws (WP) 1982 by sidelining the national language on their signboards. Despite the regulation being in place for a long time, many premises in Bukit Bintang continue to disregard it.
“There are still those who don’t understand or choose to overlook the significance of Bahasa Melayu. That’s okay, we’ll remind them through fines and enforcement notices,” DBKL added.
They have given the premises owners 14 days to remove the Chinese-language billboards along Jalan Imbi.
“They have 14 days to take them down, or we’ll take further action.”
Where else do you think DBKL should focus its enforcement efforts?
