Civil Servants Won't Receive 'Bonus' Payment this Hari Raya
Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has implied that there won't be another round of special 'bonus' payments for civil servants in conjunction with the upcoming Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration this year.
The Prime Minister clarified that the recent RM2,000 early incentive payment disbursed by the government to civil servants is designated for the Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration.
Anwar, also serving as the Finance Minister, suggested that more benefits, including salary increments, await civil servants once the review on the Public Service Remuneration System Study (SSPA) is completed.
"The recipients of the RM2,000 early incentive payment are none other than civil servants. Under the new remuneration scheme, which will be announced soon, there will be another round of salary increments for civil servants. This is very good news for them. The RM2,000 early incentive payment previously disbursed by the government is actually meant for Hari Raya," he informed reporters after a walkabout at the Mahkota Square Ramadan Bazaar here yesterday.
Last week, Bernama reported that the Congress of Unions of Employees in the Public and Civil Services (Cuepacs) reiterated its call to the government to consider providing special financial aid to civil servants and government retirees for Aidilfitri.
Its president Datuk Dr Adnan Mat expressed hope that the Prime Minister would continue the tradition of providing this assistance, which has been implemented for the past 10 years.
