7A SPM Student Rejected by Universities Due to D in English, Highlights Importance of BI
You might think that achieving numerous As in your SPM examination would enhance your chances of getting into universities and colleges, right? Unfortunately, a poor grade in just one subject can jeopardize your opportunities despite having many As.
A Malaysian student is learning this the hard way after scoring 7 As in their SPM examination but receiving a D in English.
The student, @almondnadee, shared their experience on TikTok to remind other students about the importance of Bahasa Inggeris (English) to avoid facing similar university rejections.
They wrote, “The influence of English is huge. To all the younger brothers and sisters out there, English is very important. Your results can be beautiful, but if you don’t get a credit in English, it’s still bad.”
In their post, they revealed that despite getting 7 As, they were rejected from all the university programs they applied for because of their D in English.
The student achieved As in Bahasa Malaysia, Mathematics, Science, Accounting, and three Islamic Studies subjects. They also received a B+ in History and a C+ in Additional Mathematics. However, their D in English disqualified them from all programs.
They later requested a recheck of their SPM English examination result, which was upgraded to a C+.
Despite the revised result, they were still rejected by the universities. They are now waiting to reapply and appeal for certain programs after rechecking their results.
