20-Year-Old Man in Shah Alam Fatally Stabs Mother Over Disputes About Her Scolding
A 20-year-old man in Shah Alam repeatedly stabbed his mother at home because he couldn’t tolerate her scolding.
In an official statement, Shah Alam district police chief, Mohd Iqbal Bin Ibrahim, reported that the police received a call from the victim’s neighbor around 5:49 PM on August 20 (Tuesday) regarding the incident.
“The neighbor was informed about the murder by the victim’s youngest child, who had just returned home from school.”
The murder occurred earlier that day, around 4:30 PM, while the victim was cooking at her home in Section 25, Shah Alam. During the attack, the victim struggled with the suspect before succumbing to multiple stab wounds.
“We discovered several stab wounds on her abdomen,” said Iqbal.
PDRM also stated that the suspect, the victim’s eldest son, was motivated by his inability to handle being scolded by his mother over financial issues.
Later that evening, around 7:30 PM, the suspect was apprehended by the police, with the murder weapon—a knife—found in his possession. Both the suspect and the victim were Myanmar nationals.
The suspect has been remanded for seven days (August 21 until August 27, 2024) to assist in the investigation. A post-mortem examination confirmed that the 40-year-old victim died from stab wounds to the abdomen.
The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code, which carries the death penalty if the suspect is found guilty.
