MS PUIYI Awarded RM4.3 Million in Civil Suit Against Former Business Partner
Approximately three months ago, it was reported that controversial model and actress MS PUIYI had filed a lawsuit against her former business partner, accusing him of defrauding her of RM4.3 million.
MS PUIYI disclosed that a 29-year-old man named 'Mentos', who was also a former board member of her company, PY Empire Sdn Bhd, had tricked her into giving him money under the pretense of settling tax arrears with the Inland Revenue Board of Malaysia (LHDN).
Recently, MS PUIYI announced on her Facebook page that she has won the lawsuit.
She stated, "This morning, I would like to provide an update on the civil case I filed in the High Court of Penang. Lai Kai Jian, also known as Mentos Lai, the defendant in this case, has not filed any appearance or documents in response to the case against him."
"Therefore, my solicitor filed a Judgment In Default (JID) against Mentos on July 26 (Friday), and we successfully obtained the Judgment In Default for the amount of RM4,300,000.00."
According to a report by Kosmo, due to LHDN tax arrears, MS PUIYI was unable to attend four events in Australia, as she was barred from traveling abroad.
"I couldn't leave the country for three months. However, the issue is finally resolved," she said.
The High Court's ruling in MS PUIYI's favor grants her the full amount of her claim, along with interest and legal fees.
