Malaysian Woman Spends RM500 to Dye Her Hair Blue for Chinese New Year, Older Woman Criticise Her As "Lala"

During the festive season, it's not just about refreshing your wardrobe but also exploring new hair colors for those with a larger budget. However, the excitement of a Malaysian girl was short-lived when her newly dyed hair received criticism from her aunties back in her hometown.

In a widely shared anonymous confession posted on Mamaclub, the girl opted for a bold blue hue after discussing it with her mother. "It's always been a color I've wanted to try, and I absolutely love the result!" she shared.

But upon her return home for Chinese New Year, one of her aunties couldn't help but comment on her vibrant hair color. "Blue? That's so lala!" the aunt exclaimed, expressing disapproval not only due to potential chemical harm but also the perceived overall look.

As the aunt continued to voice her disapproval, the discomfort grew for the girl's mother. Initially defending her daughter, the mother eventually capitulated, urging her to dye her hair black as soon as possible. "Didn't you hear what your aunty said? You look like lala!" she insisted.

Despite spending RM500 on a hair transformation she adored, the girl was reluctant to revert to black. She defended her choice, citing the trendiness of the color overseas, but her reasoning fell on deaf ears. "Yes, it might be trendy elsewhere, but we're in Malaysia!" her mother retorted.

Preferring to avoid further confrontation, the girl chose to remain silent. In her concluding remarks, she implored her aunties to refrain from making unnecessary comments that could strain relationships. "Can't you control your ignorance? Do you realize the impact your words can have?" she pleaded.
