Malaysian Woman Acknowledging 3-Hour Breaks No Longer Employed by Government
In an unexpected development surrounding the widely-discussed karaoke phenomenon at the Department of Statistics Malaysia (DoSM), the individual known as Nana, celebrated for her lively lunchtime karaoke sessions, is said to have ceased employment with the department.
Nana, previously in the spotlight for indulging in three-hour karaoke breaks during her lunch hour, disclosed that her tenure under the Malaysian Short Term Employment Program (MySTEP) had concluded last year.
Seeking to clarify the situation, she took to her TikTok account to address the public, expressing regret for any misunderstanding stemming from her earlier remarks.
"I wish to sincerely apologize for my imprudent choice of words in the comments section of my TikTok account. I want to clarify that I am no longer employed there (at DoSM) as my contract expired last year."
"For your information, the video was filmed in September last year and was intended to be lighthearted, showcasing the workplace environment," she elaborated in the video.
Despite the initial public outcry sparked by her viral post, Nana reiterated that the video was crafted for entertainment purposes and to highlight the workplace atmosphere.
Confirmation of her contract's expiration prompts inquiries regarding the timing and context of her previous statements regarding 'connections' aiding in her employment acquisition.
Upon reaching out to DoSM's Head of Statistics, Datuk Seri Mohd Uzir Mahidin, by New Straits Times (NST), it was affirmed that Nana has indeed departed from the department. "Yes, she no longer works in that department," he confirmed succinctly.
