Malaysian Surprised by RM16 Price Tag for Milo at Resort, While Netizens Express Confusion Over Her Roti Order
It's no secret that the cost of food items is on the rise in Malaysia. However, it's not uncommon for upscale establishments like resorts and hotels to charge higher prices for their food and beverages compared to regular restaurants.
Netizen Emoncs Tay recently shared her astonishment on Facebook after being charged RM15.90 for a cup of hot Milo at a resort in Kota Tinggi, Johor.
She expressed her surprise, stating, "The price of the hot Milo caught me off guard!"
Emoncs shared her receipt, revealing that she ordered three hot Milos, totaling RM47.70, with each serving priced at RM15.90. Additionally, she ordered several food items, which were also relatively expensive compared to what they might cost at a local eatery like a Mamak restaurant.
Despite the overall prices, people were particularly fixated on one detail from Emoncs's receipt: her order of Roti Telur Bawang (Roti Canai with egg and onions) without onions.
Comments on her post included:
"Am I the only one who noticed Roti Telur Bawang with no onions?"
"Why not just order Roti Telur?"
"This is what surprised me!"
"It would have been better to just order Roti Telur."
Emoncs clarified in the comment section that the resort's menu only listed Roti Telur Bawang, hence her request for it without onions.
Putting aside the humor, do you believe resorts are justified in pricing a cup of hot Milo at RM15.90, or is it excessive?
