Malaysian Doctor Responds After Man Tells Wife to Avoid C-Section to Prevent “Damage”

A local doctor recently took to X (formerly Twitter) to address concerns surrounding one of the most feared surgeries among pregnant women: the C-section, or cesarean section.

Dr. Samhan shared a screenshot of a conversation between a husband and wife, in which the husband expressed his “concerns” about his wife undergoing the procedure.

“I Don’t Want a Damaged Wife”

In the screenshot, the expectant father objected to his wife's scheduled C-section, claiming that, due to her age, it might not be the best option. He even stated that he didn’t want a wife who would be “damaged” by the procedure, adding, “I’m better off marrying someone else who is much ‘healthier.’”

“Cesarean is a Battle Scar”

In response, Dr. Samhan explained that a C-section is often necessary when a baby is not getting enough oxygen or has a weak heartbeat. He highlighted the physical dangers and exhaustion a mother faces during hours of labor, especially when a natural delivery is not progressing well, necessitating a C-section.

“Imagine a baby struggling to breathe because it’s in an inverted position. As a doctor or husband, how can one allow a mother to endure such suffering if a normal delivery isn't viable?” he questioned.

Appreciation for Mothers Everywhere

Dr. Samhan stressed that in such situations, the priority should always be the health and safety of both the mother and baby, even if it means opting for a C-section. He reassured that the procedure does not harm the mother’s body and emphasized the importance of proper postpartum care.

“As both a husband and a doctor, I can only say, may God bless all the mothers who courageously fight to bring new lives into the world.”
