Malaysian Civil Servants Urged to Step Out of Comfort Zones to Justify December Pay Raise
December promises to be a memorable month for all civil servants, as they anticipate the salary increments announced earlier this year by the Prime Minister.
The 13% raise is confirmed, so there’s no need for concern. However, the Congress of Unions of Employees in the Public Service (CUEPACS) has an important reminder for all civil servants: step out of your comfort zone and remain dedicated to your work!
CUEPACS President Datuk Adnan Mat emphasized at a press conference on August 5 that civil servants must demonstrate they deserve the salary increase.
"We need to dispel the negative perceptions that have been cast upon us over the years. I am aware that some have questioned the rationale behind the salary increase."
Adnan noted that many have questioned the necessity of the wage increase, citing a lack of major improvements in public service.
"Therefore, we encourage public servants to continue delivering excellent service, consistent with the increase in salaries."
Adnan further stated that following the salary increase, set to begin in December, CUEPACS hopes there will be no doubts about the integrity of civil servants.
"Let’s ensure that no one questions our integrity, as the public constantly monitors us. Even when we are doing our best, minor issues can become major controversies," Adnan added.
The Prime Minister is expected to provide more details about the salary increase on August 16.
Regardless of the industry, it is hoped that all employees will perform their duties diligently in serving the public. What are your thoughts on the salary increase for civil servants?
