Eligibility Criteria for the Monthly RM200 Diesel Subsidy Aid

The Finance Ministry has introduced a diesel subsidy aid program, offering RM200 per month to eligible applicants starting mid-June.

In an X post on May 27, the ministry announced that applications for the subsidy aid, called BUDI MADANI, are open from May 28.

The subsidy is available to three categories of recipients:

  • Individuals
  • Agriculture and commodity smallholders
  • Public vehicle and land freight transport owners

Here are the eligibility criteria for each category:

For individuals, recipients must: – Be Malaysian citizens – Have an annual income of RM100,000 or less – Own a diesel-engined vehicle registered with the Road and Transport Department (JPJ), excluding luxury vehicles less than 10 years old – Have active road tax on the vehicle

The ministry will verify applicants' information with the Inland Revenue Board (LHDN).

For agriculture and commodity smallholders, recipients must: – Be registered as farmers or commodity smallholders with the Agriculture and Food Security Ministry or the Plantation and Commodities Ministry – Be active smallholders with an annual turnover between RM50,000 and RM300,000

These two categories are new initiatives under the BUDI MADANI program, complementing the existing MySubsidi Diesel Fleet Card program for public vehicles and land freight transport.

"To date, nearly 90,000 fleet cards have been issued to land transport and logistics companies. These cards allow eligible companies to purchase subsidized diesel at fuel retail stations, minimizing cost impacts on logistics and supply chains, thereby reducing the risk of price increases for the public," the ministry stated.

Applications for the monthly RM200 diesel subsidy aid are open until June 3.

Approved applicants after June 3 will receive their first cash assistance within two weeks, with monthly disbursements thereafter.

"The cash assistance will be credited into individual bank accounts monthly. Individuals without bank accounts can collect their BUDI Individu cash assistance at any Bank Simpanan Nasional branch throughout Peninsular Malaysia," the ministry said.
