Auntie Anne's Terminates Employee After Viral Photos Show Inappropriate Dough Handling
Auntie Anne's Malaysia has dismissed a female employee from its Mid Valley Megamall outlet after viral videos and photos showed her playing with and kissing raw dough.
In a statement released on its social media pages on 8 October, the pretzel chain confirmed that the employee, identified as Alice Chang, was immediately terminated due to the incident.
"We do not condone or tolerate any actions that compromise the highest standards of hygiene and safety for our customers and staff," Auntie Anne's Malaysia stated.
The outlet has been temporarily closed for disinfection.
"The store will reopen once the disinfection process is completed and all necessary safety protocols are in place," the company said, expressing gratitude to its customers for their understanding and patience.
Earlier, the woman, reportedly related to Adeline Chang, had posted the videos and photos on social media, expressing her love for her new job.
Although the original post has been deleted, others had already downloaded and reposted the content, sparking online backlash. Many demanded Auntie Anne's to fire the employee immediately.
"She is ruining your reputation! She kissed the dough!" one user exclaimed.
In an 18-second video, Chang is seen playing with the dough and pretending to kiss it, followed by photos of her sniffing and kissing the dough while looking at the camera.
