Akmal Demands Clarification from Local Brand Regarding Alleged 'Allah' Shoe Design or Threatens Boycott Within 24 Hours
Despite recent detainment and investigation by the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, regarding the KK Mart boycott controversy, Umno Youth Chief Dr. Akmal Saleh appears undeterred. He has now issued a caution to a local brand concerning an alleged offensive design on one of its products.
On his official Facebook page, Akmal has given the local footwear brand a 24-hour ultimatum to clarify the design of its high-heeled shoe, which bears a logo reminiscent of Arabic calligraphy resembling the word 'Allah', or face a boycott.
Receiving a message about the purportedly offensive design, Akmal expressed his initial outrage. However, upon closer examination and gathering more information, he came across a post explaining that the logo was actually an illustration of a high-heeled shoe, rather than Arabic calligraphy representing 'Allah'. Consequently, Akmal began to perceive the design differently.
Nevertheless, Akmal is adamant that the local brand must clarify the situation within 24 hours to avoid a boycott. He emphasized that Muslims in Malaysia act with prudence and require clarification before taking action. Akmal stated, "If there’s no explanation given in 24 hours, then don’t blame us if we boycott your products."
As of now, the Facebook post has received over 7,000 reactions and more than 1,300 comments.
